After bidding farewell to the “dragon lady” running the Moseley Cottage Inn and Suites on Mt Desert Island (Acadia National Park) we set off for Jackson, New Hampshire.

Mark is not yet fully recovered so we don’t plan on any strenuous activities today. We have about 400km to drive and that will be enough.
Maine and New Hampshire have suddenly passed their peak colour and there are mainly just brown and bare trees. It is amazing how this happens virtually overnight. Despite this there is every indication that the mainland areas would have been every bit as impressive as the island. If I was to come to New England again I might well consider some of the areas we have been today as potential headquarters from which to explore.
We have been trying to find out why the names of the towns we pass through are as they are but we just can’t figure it out. We passed through Mexico and Etna and bypassed Peru and just missed Berlin and Paris. With very small detours we could have had a world trip all in one day. But the best looking places were Lucerne and Skowhegan. I know, Skowhegan just seems wrong ... should have been Stalingrad.
Eventually we arrive and are pleasantly surprised by the “olde worlde charme” of the Wentworth.

Rooms are good and no dragon lady at the desk ... things are looking up ...
