Back to the airport in the shuttle for another hire car ...

Mark’s not happy as they give us a mini-van.  It’s way too big as far as he’s concerned and it’s only front wheel drive.

This isn’t a real problem for most of the drive but of course we are not going on the highway are we ???

There is a road called the “Skyline Drive” which we are trying to get to but it is a dirt road along the top of the mountains and involves climbing up another very narrow steep dirt road with some nasty drop offs to the side.  It’s not too bad until we run into snow.  This is coming back down again from where we turned around and is quite safe but the bits further up were a bit scary.

Eventually we decide to return to the main road and continue on to St George, which is a large regional centre and has a depot for the car company we rented from, and see if we can exchange the car for an all-wheel drive or 4wd.  Just before we get back to the highway we come across a little town called Otter Creek where there is this neat old “pickup”.  It’s one of the few cars in the U.S. so far that I wouldn’t mind having.

It’s night by the time we make it and the depot is closed so it looks like we will have to try first thing in the morning.
