2015-03-04 Day 01 Perth

Well "D"eparture day has finally arrived.

Unfortunately I have most of the day to wait around ...

I don't leave until 5:50 this evening which means arrive at the airport at 3pm which means leave home at 2:30pm etc...

I arrive in Dubai about mid-night local time and have a 6 hour layover during which time I hope I can find a comfortable corner to sleep in !!

Then I arrive in Glasgow about 11:30 am local time to go and collect my car.

Then I have really begun ...

Update ...

Well it went about how I expected ... Fortunately the plane was only half full so almost everyone was able to lie across a few seats and be a bit more comfortable than sitting up. Unfortunately I was a bit slow on the uptake and the only other guy in my row of seats decided he wanted to stay there so we both ended up sitting up for the 11 hour flight. Much as I hate to say it I think the comfort and service levels on the Emirates flight surpassed my previous experiences on Qantas. Certainly the in-flight entertainment systems were superior and the food wasn't bad either ...

and for the wait in Dubai there are even "lounges" in which to spend the 6 hours of layover ...
