What can I say …. Cold, Wet, Gloomy, Windy … Apparent temp … -1deg C
The only thing we have to look forward too is dinner tonight at the Three Chimneys Restaurant. It is, I am told, a 3 Michelin Star establishment. After watching the importance Gordon Ramsey placed on getting his 3rd star I am expecting a lot.
We arrive at the appointed time of 6:15pm as directed and are conducted to our seats by a skinny dinner suited young fellow who is quite prepared to be a bit cheeky without having a clue what he faces if he raises Rosemary’s ire. He walks a narrow line and manages survive to bring us water, champagne and the menus.
There are two menus … one is four courses with three choices in each course … fixed price 60GBP per person. The other is the “Taste of Skye Menu”… eight courses no choices … fixed price 90GBP per person.
It appears that everyone at the same table must have the same menu choice and it’s only the second menu which contains Digby’s scallops and Rosemary’s marmalade pudding favourites so that’s what we are having.
We are provided with some mini-menus so we wont keep bothering the waiter with "What's coming next?" or "What was that?".

Service is exemplary with new silverware, napkins and whatever is required for each course.
The dishes are as you would expect, or at least I would after watching all the cooking shows, with tiny little pieces exactly the same size artistically arranged on the plate with a few judicious drops of sauce to complete the composition. Each time I am left thinking … I would just like a little more so that I can “really” taste that thing rather than “hints” of flavour which come through, but by the time we get towards the seventh and eighth courses I am beginning to be thankful they are the size they are.
Eventually we decide we can’t even manage coffee and return to Glendale … where two hours later we still can’t manage coffee and so head off to bed.
