The forecast for today is that the morning will be fine but will deteriorate by about 10am.

I have convinced Digby and Rosemary to join me early in the morning for a trip out to Neist point if it is not raining. At 6am it is cold but dry so I rouse them from slumber and we head off.

It is quite an experience … the wind is up and we can’t get out of the windward side of the car so it’s climb over and get out downwind. If we don’t take a firm and deliberate stance we are blown at least 5 metres before we can get a grip on the ground sufficient to stop us heading for the cliff. There is an apocryphal story of a tourist wearing a sari who was parachuted over the edge to her demise and despite the truth or otherwise of the story we are not anxious to test it. Discretion seems certainly the better part of valour and we decline the path along the cliff edge for another day.

I manage to take a number of shaky photos in the wind hoping that some of them are focused enough for me to make a panorama. The view is south from the Neiste Point carpark across the nearby bays and headlands.

Tomorrow promises to be calmer and brighter so I think I will be back again in the morning and evening for another attempt.

This afternoon we are off to Portree for shopping and a tour through some of the local galleries to hopefully get some inspiration.

Portree does not provide us with any better weather so we confine ourselves to necessary shopping for provisions and an afternoon coffee in a local bakery … with a few morsels for tasting of course! Then it’s back to Glendale.

The afternoon for some reason is a slow one … some reading and domestic activities … but no-one feels particularly like doing too much. The wind is still very cold and the temp is about 4 degC.

An after dinner glance out the window reveals a bonus as the clouds have lit up with some very nice colouration and the view from the front door is quite pleasant.

In the hope that tomorrow will also bring some interesting light I decide I will get up at 5am and go back to Neist Point to see if I can get some decent photos. For some unknown reason Digby and Rosemary decline to join me.
